Coping with housing insecurity
Having a safe, secure and warm place to live is one of the most basic things that we need to have a healthy life.
In 2021 the Birmingham Poverty Truth Commission is doing a specific focused exploration of the issues of housing and health inequalities and this will report in 2022/23 through the Creating a City Without Inequalities Forum.
There is a lot of support and advice available if you are facing issues with housing, these include:
- Birmingham City Council Housing Support
- for people at risk of becoming homeless
- for housing support
- for people having issues in private rented accommodation
There are also specific charities supporting people who are at risk of becoming homeless or currently homeless, these include:
- – a national charity working on homeless
- – a national charity working across homeless organisations
- – a national charity working on homelessness with a base in Birmingham
- – a regional charity working specifically with young people on homelessness
- – a Birmingham charity providing day services for homeless people
