1. REMINDER Birmingham City Council Fee Increases 7 April 2025 (Information for all Birmingham Contracted Providers)

On 4 March 2025 Birmingham City Council approved its budget for the year 2025-26, we are now able to confirm the increases to fees payable from Monday 7 April 2025. The fee summary document will be available shortly on our website using the following link:

For the avoidance of doubt, the fee increases are only applicable to care packages delivered by care providers which have been awarded the most recent and current versions of our care home, supported living, and home support contracts. These are:

  • Care homes and Supported Living – Flexible Contracting Arrangements [2023]
  • Home Support for Sensory Loss – Framework Agreement [2023]
  • Home Support for Prisons - Framework Agreement [2022]
  • Home Support for Children, Young People with Disabilities and Home support for Adults [2024]
  • Quick Discharge and Quick Intervention Home Support for Adults [2024]

The fee increases are not applicable to contract holders of older or expired versions of these contracts.

2. Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) Increase in FNC announced from 1 April 2025 (Information for all Nursing Homes)

The government is set to increase funding for care homes providing nursing care in the community. The new rate will be £254.06 (up from £235.88). For further information please see the following:

3. Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) Learning and Development Fund DEADLINE 31 March 2025 (Information for all Providers)

The Department of Health and Social Care launched the Learning and Development Support Scheme in September 2024, providing funding for adult social care workforce training. Employers can claim funding for eligible training and qualifications through an online service administered by NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA).

To submit claims for the Learning and Development Support Scheme, eligible employers must set up an account on the online claims service. Sign up via the link below:

After completing the form, NHSBSA will schedule an onboarding appointment to help set up your account and submit claims. Claims for training courses started and paid for between April 1, 2024, and March 31, 2025, must be submitted by March 21, 2025. For qualifications, 60% reimbursement can be claimed upon payment, with the remaining 40% upon completion. Internal training claims are now accepted with proper evidence, including proof of payment. 4. West Midlands-Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (WM-ADASS) Funding Available for Hiring Sponsored International Workers in the UK (All CQC Registered Providers)

WM-ADASS have commissioned Lifted, a technology platform and expert immigration team, to help care providers recruit and retain sponsored workers who are already here in the UK, and to protect their sponsorship licenses. It is completely free to sign up to Lifted platform to view and interview screened candidates.

Lifted will complete all Home Office, and CQC compliance, organise housing and provide immigration support. They will also pay all of your upfront recruitment fees and replace this with a simple monthly fee that covers all their support to make sponsorship affordable. Their technology platform ensures compliance by tracking and monitoring your immigration status, keeping you full prepared for any Home Office inspection. There is a cost to providers once they hire a sponsored worker from the platform – this cost is a £600 payment per sponsored worker hired.

5. UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) Adverse Weather Health Plan - Survey (Information for all Providers)

The Adverse Weather and Health Plan (AWHP) was created by the UKHSA in 2023 and aims to protect individuals and communities from the health effects of adverse weather.

The evaluation is focusing on how the AWHP is being implemented in local health and social care organisations in England and includes a short survey to understand awareness and use of the AWHP and/or similar local plans. The survey should take no more than 5 minutes to complete.

This evaluation is targeting frontline NHS and social care staff and managers, local authorities, service delivery staff and the voluntary sector. If you are part of one of these groups, please consider filling out the survey.

6. REMINDER NHS Birmingham and Solihull (BSol) Support to Care Homes Training March and April 2025 (Information for all Care Homes)

There are valuable informative training sessions on

8. REMINDER NHS Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care Board (BSOL ICB) - Urgent Community Response (UCR) Birmingham and Solihull and Virtual Wards - Latest Information and Resources and Training Events (Information for Birmingham and Solihull Care Homes)

Care Homes in Birmingham and Solihull are advised to contact the UCR in the first instance for receiving urgent care. The team can provide a rapid response service within two hours of your call. This referral service offers an alternative to calling an ambulance and helps to avoid unnecessary hospital admissions or readmissions. This service has highly skilled and dedicated clinicians who can deliver a rapid response to the urgent care needs of your residents or refer to the ambulance service if emergency hospital care is needed.
